Stripe also has no built-in surcharging for service businesses, which means you absorb every processing fee unless you build a custom solution. Alternative Payments includes flat-rate pricing, free ACH, and built-in per-customer surcharging that passes card fees to clients compliantly and automatically.

Alternative Payments is a purpose-built platform for service businesses that works out of the box. It includes a branded client portal, PSA integrations, autopay rules, automated collections, and accounts payable built in. No developers needed, no custom configuration required, no stitching together of separate tools.

Stripe has no out-of-the-box integrations with PSA platforms. MSPs and service businesses that use Stripe typically have to build and maintain custom integrations to sync invoice data from their PSA, manually reconcile payments, and update accounting records. Alternative Payments integrates natively with ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, and SuperOps on the PSA side, and with QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage Intacct on accounting. All integrations are bidirectional and require no custom development.

Stripe doesn't support MSP-specific billing workflows out of the box. Setting up autopay rules by client or agreement type, automated reminder sequences, or collections escalation requires custom development or third-party tools layered on top. Alternative Payments handles everything natively, including autopay rules, scheduled reminders, and Collections Assist where our team contacts customers directly on your behalf, without any additional configuration or development work.

Alternative Payments processes payments through Adyen, one of the most robust payment infrastructures available, with built-in fraud protection and dispute management. For service businesses billing recurring contracts to known clients, the dispute risk profile is fundamentally different from e-commerce. The platform you use should reflect that.
